1 Killed After Car Crashes Into Building: Manchester Police
"The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames and the apparent lone operator was trapped in the vehicle," police said.
MANCHESTER, CT — One person was killed after crashing their vehicle into a building on Center Street just after 2 a.m. Sunday, police said.
At 2:13 a.m. Manchester Police and Fire/EMS personnel responded to the area of Center and Fairview streets for a motor vehicle accident. Responding personnel found a 1-car motor vehicle crash with a heavily damaged vehicle on fire and into the building wall of 600 Center St., police said.
"The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames and the apparent lone operator was trapped in the vehicle," police said. "The fire was extinguished by the fire department and the operator was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identification of the deceased operator is being withheld at this time pending notification of family."

"Preliminary investigation showed that the vehicle had been traveling eastbound Center St where it left the roadway in the area of Olcott St, went through a utility pole, a fence, then into the wall of the building. Speed appears to be a factor in this collision," police said in a news release.
This incident is currently under investigation by the Manchester Police Department Traffic Unit and the Metro Traffic Services Crash Reconstruction Team. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information should contact Officer Ashley Skolnik at 860-645-5560.
