2018 Manchester Road Race Traffic, Security Rules Outlined
Municipal officials have announced some ground rules for traffic and security for the 82nd running of the Manchester Road Race.

MANCHESTER, CT β Municipal officials have announced some ground rules for traffic and security for the 82nd running of the Manchester Road Race on Thanksgiving Day.
More than 10,000 runners participate each year. The race begins at 10 a.m. on Main Street.
All unattended property is subject to seizure or destruction and all bags and backpacks are subject to search, municipal officials said.

There will be no parking allowed on East Center Street from Lenox Street to Center Street during the overnight period from Wednesday, Nov. 21 through 1 p.m. on Thursday Nov. 22. Vehicles will be towed if necessary, town officials said.
Main Street will be closed to traffic between Bissell Street and Maple Street from 5 a.m. until 7 a.m. to allow the construction crews to erect the fencing and ropes along the roadway.

At 6 a.m., Main Street will be closed from Center Street to Charter Oak Street until the conclusion of the race.
At 8:45 a.m., the Interstate-384 Exit 3 ramps β both eastbound and westbound β will be closed.
At 9 a.m., the entire race route will be closed to vehicular traffic. After the race tail car passes, roads will be opened behind it. Main St. will continue to stay closed from Center Street to Charter Oak Street until race cleanup is completed, usually at about 1 p.m.
Shuttle buses will be running and schedule is available online at www.manchesterroadrace.com.
