Bridge On Busy Manchester Road To Be Replaced

A bridge over Hop Brook in Manchester is slated to be replaced.

MANCHESTER, CT — The bridge on Hartford Road spannng Hop Brook is slated for replacement.

A public informational meeting on the project is scheduled for Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. in the Hearing Room (1st Floor) at Lincoln Center, 494 Main St.

The bridge is on Hartford Road between Case Drive and Bidwell Steet.

The proposed work includes the complete replacement of the existing structure, including subsurfacing, utilities and bridge approaches, officials said.

To accommodate the construction, traffic on Hartford Road will need to be detoured around the work area via West Center Street and Mckee Street, officials said.

A preliminary assessment out the price tag at $3 million, half of which will be funded under the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Local Bridge Program, officials said.

Construction is anticipated to begin this spring and take approximately 18 months to complete.
