Bullet Flies Into Apartment During Attempted Burglary In Manchester
Shots were fired during a thwarted vehicle burglary in Manchester, police said.

MANCHESTER, CT — A bullet flew through an apartment in a large complex in Manchester Monday night during a botched vehicle burglary attempt, police said.
Just before midnight, the Manchester Police Department received a call about an attempted burglary and shots being fired at 465 Buckland Hills Drive. That is the address of The Pavilions complex.
A witness told police that two men were smashing a window in an attempt to break into a vehicle in the parking lot, according to an incident report. The witness confronted the men, who then ran toward a vehicle positioned near the entrance of the apartment complex, according to an incident report.

The witness gave chase in an attempt to gather information on the getaway car and, as it sped away, the witness heard a gun go off twice, according to an incident report.
The getaway car is being described as a brown or gray sedan, and it quickly left the area, heading east on Buckland Hills Drive in the direction of Hale Road, police said.

Officers discovered two shell casings in the vicinity of building No. 21 and one of the bullets had struck an apartment in building No. 35, according to an incident report. The bullet went through a window and "traversed" the occupied apartment before becoming lodged in a common hallway wall, according to a police report.
The occupant of the apartment was asleep during the incident and was not injured, police said.
Investigators were unable to locate the second bullet.
Detectives from the Manchester Police Department Investigative Services Unit are investigating the incident and are asking that anyone with information on it contact them at 860-645-5575.
Police cautioned residents about confrontation and released the following statement:
"The Manchester Police Department is committed to the safety and well-being of its residents, and will continue to diligently pursue all leads and information related to this incident. We want to remind residents to prioritize their personal safety by avoiding direct confrontation with anyone observed committing criminal acts. If you observe any suspicious activity, including someone attempting to break into a vehicle, we urge you to call 911 immediately and be prepared to provide important details such as location, physical descriptions of the suspects and any other relevant information."
