Burglary Suspect from Manchester Arrested at Enfield Courthouse
Suffield police took him into custody; other agenices hold six additional arrest warrants for the man related to similar burglaries.
SUFFIELD, CT — A suspect believed to have committed an overnight robbery at a Suffield Dunkin' Donuts shop was arrested Thursday while appearing on an unrelated matter in Enfield Superior Court.
Brett M. Johnson, 31, whose last known address was 124 Birch Street in Manchester, was arrested by Suffield police for his role in committing a burglary on May 31, 2017. He was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny.
In June, Johnson was identified as a suspect for numerous nighttime burglaries into Dunkin' Donuts franchises throughout Connecticut which began in April. Suffield police obtained a warrant for Johnson’s arrest on July 14; however, efforts to locate him had been unsuccessful. Recently, Suffield police had partnered with the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force to attempt to locate Johnson, Capt. Christopher McKee said.

Suffield police learned Johnson was at Enfield Superior Court Thursday despite having failed to appear for a scheduled previous court date. Police went to the courthouse and took Johnson into custody without incident, then transported him to the Suffield Police Department, where he was held overnight on a court-set bond of $20,000, McKee said.
Johnson is also wanted on six additional arrest warrants for burglary held by Glastonbury police, Canton police and several troops of the Connecticut State Police. Cooperative efforts are continuing between all involved police agencies to serve these arrest warrants, as he is in custody, McKee said.

"The investigation into the nighttime burglaries of Dunkin' Donuts restaurants was successful due to the collaboration between management and loss prevention staff of regional Dunkin' Donuts franchises and the investigators of many police departments that came together to share information and investigative resources," McKee said. "A special note of appreciation is owed to the Granby Police Department, Windsor Police Department and the Connecticut State Police Troop L - Litchfield. Investigators and patrol personnel of these agencies took the initiative to lead efforts to address this regional crime problem."
