Car Hits Teen On Scooter In Manchester, Driver Flees Scene: Police

MANCHESTER, CT — A car with some distinct features hit a scooter in Manchester Friday morning and police are looking for it after the driver fled the scene, according to an incident report.

At 6:57 a.m. Friday, Manchester police responded to a crash between a motor vehicle and an electric scooter at the intersection of West Middle Turnpike and New State Road, according t0 an incident report.

The scooter rider, a 15-year-old boy, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for further medical care, according to an incident report.

Investigators determined that the driver of the car, a Green Nissan Altima, fled the scene after a brief stop and was last seen heading eastbound on West Middle Turnpike, according to an incident report.

The vehicle's registration, Massachusetts 7SX682, does not match the Altima, police said. The Altima has a spare tire on the front right side and a large dent in the rear left corner of the bumper, according to an incident report.

The Nissan should also have damage to the right side-view mirror from the accident, police said.

Manchester police are seeking the public's assistance in locating the vehicle and identifying the driver. According to a witness, the operator is described as a "Hispanic female" in her 20s or 30s, police said.
