Cat Saved, But People Dislpaced By House Fire In Manchester

MANCHESTER, CT — A cat was saved, but a half-dozen people were displaced in a Monday night house fire in Manchester.

The fire broke out at 8:48 p.m. at 138 School St., Manchester fire officials said.

Responding crews encountered flames in the back corner of the house that were rapidly extending to the second floor.

Manchester Fire responded with all seven companies, and the fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes, officials said.

The building sustained "moderate damage" and the six occupants remained displaced, officials said.

There were no injuries sustained and firefighters saved a cat from the dwelling, officials said.

The Manchester Fire Marshal's Office is conducting an investigation for the origin and cause.
