Chili's Officials Investigating Data Breach
Officials for the Chili's restaurant chain began the week continuing to investigate details of a recent data breach.

MANCHESTER, CT — Officials for the Chili's restaurant chain began the week continuing to investigate how wide a recent data breach has extended.
Chili's officials said the breach was discovered on May 11.
"Payment card information of some of our guests who visited certain Chili's Grill & Bar corporate-owned restaurants have been compromised in a data incident," officials for the chain said in a news release.

It is believed the "data incident" was limited to between March and April of this year, but officials said they, "continue to assess the scope of the incident."
Chili's officials said they have been working with "third-party forensic experts" to determine just what happened, but added it seems malware was used to gather payment card information, including credit or debit card numbers and cardholder names, from payment-related systems for in-restaurant purchases at "certain Chili's restaurants."

Specific locations were not named.
"We deeply value our relationships with our Guests and our priority remains doing what is right for them. We are committed to sharing additional information on this ongoing investigation," Chili's officials said.
