Democrat MD Rahman Endorsed For State Senate Run
Businessman and community activist MD Rahman has endorsed unanimously by the Democratic delegates in the 4th State Senate District.

MANCHESTER, CT ā Democrat MD Rahman has been endorsed for a State Senate run.
Here is the official announcement:
Businessman and community activist MD Rahman was endorsed unanimously by the Democratic delegates at the 4th State Senate District Convention. He will succeed long-time public servant Steve Cassano, former Manchester Mayor and current State Senator.
MD Rahman was nominated by Dr. Diane Clare-Kearney of Manchester. His nomination was seconded enthusiastically by Charlie Murray of Glastonbury, former Glastonbury Democratic Party Chair.
āI am so thankful to the Democrats of Andover, Bolton, Glastonbury, and Manchester. Twenty-five years ago, I came to this country with little more than the American Dream. Today, I am committing my life to giving back to our country, to our state, and to helping others realize their own dreams. We must recognize that our economic recovery from this pandemic is not yet over. Many families are still hurting, and as a businessman I know how to create jobs and deliver what families need: good wages, good healthcare, lower taxes, and an optimism that things will be better tomorrow. I look forward to fighting for the people of the 4th Senate District in Hartford!ā said MD Rahman in his acceptance speech.
He added, āI would also like to take a moment to thank our current State Senator, Steve Cassano, for his years of service. I respect him and his lifetime of service, and I think I can speak for all of us when I say, thank you, Senator. We are all proud to count you amongst our friends.ā
Manchester Mayor Jay Moran, who is chairing the campaign and serves as campaign treasurer, said, āFew people have had a greater impact on the lives of Manchester families in the past few years than MD Rahman. When the pandemic hit, MD found masks, sanitizer and other PPE for us. Together, he and I helped distribute these items to local families. That helped save lives. His COVID vaccination clinics at the Manchester Bangladesh Community Center helped protect so many of our children and families. MD Rahman has a heart of gold, and I know he will make an excellent Senator because he truly cares about people. Iām proud to call him a friend.ā
Catherine Magaldi-Lewis, Chair of the Andover Democratic Town Committee:
"Every so often someone runs for office who is genuine, who is impressive, and whose heart is in the right place. MD Rahman is one of those extraordinary individuals, and he is going to do great things for our district. I am thrilled he is running!"
John Toomey, Chair of the Bolton Democratic Town Committee:
āI was happy to see that MD worked hard to provide vaccine space to help his neighbors in the 4th. I look forward to working with MD as our next state senator. MD will be there for the people of Bolton, and the people of Bolton will be there for him.ā
Mike Pohl, Chair of the Manchester Democratic Town Committee:
āMD has, over and over, given freely of his time, resources, and energy to make the communities we all share better places to live. Heās in this race for the right reason: to help people. The enthusiasm in the room last night and the unanimous support he received are direct results of his selflessness.ā
Charlie Murray, former Chair of the Glastonbury Democratic Town Committee:
āMD has been a staunch supporter of Glastonbury Democrats. The thing thatās always struck me about MD is that, when he offers to help, itās genuine. Heās been working for a long time to get Democrats elected, because heās not out there just for himself, heās out there for all of us.ā
Dr. Diane Clare-Kearney:
āMD believes it is a duty to make a difference in peopleās lives. He is someone who doesnāt just say that; he lives it. During the pandemic he donated thousands of masks and PPE during a time when no one could get masks, and then he gave out free tests and then set up a COVID vaccine clinic. I am in awe and feel a sense of hope through him.ā
MD Rahman serves on the Governorās Hate Crime Advisory Council, the Manchester Charter Revision Commission, and Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals. He is Co-Chair of the Asian American and Pacific Island (AAPI) Democratic Caucus and founder of the Bangladesh Bhabanā Community Center in Manchester, CT. He owns and operates businesses in healthcare, construction, and real estate investment.
