Doctored-Up Fake Gun Seized In Manchester Trampoline Park Fight: Cops

MANCHESTER, CT — A facsimile gun doctored up to look real was confiscated after an altercation at an indoor trampoline venue in Manchester and two juveniles are facing charges as a result, police said.

At 4:33 p.m. Saturday, Manchester police responded to a disturbance at Urban Air, located at 220 Hale Road. The parent of a 14-year-old called 911 to report that her son had been "assaulted during" an altercation and that one of those was in possession of a firearm, according to an incident report.

The caller estimated that six individuals were involved in the melee and that they fled the scene on foot, according to an incident report.

Multiple officers responded to locate the combatants and, based on witness descriptions, officers observed them entering a vehicle nearby, according to an incident report. The vehicle, driven by an adult with juvenile passengers, was immediately stopped by officers, police said.

Some of the occupants were uncooperative during the stop and refused to exit the car, police said.

Officers then discovered a bag containing a facsimile firearm in the vehicle that appeared to haven been s painted black — including the original orange tip — to make it look real, according to an incident report.

Police also located a discarded bag near the incident that contained a large knife and clothing that matched the description of one of those involved in the Urban Air altercation, according to an incident report.

Two youths — ages 14 and 15 — were arrested and charged with:

  • Carrying a facsimile firearm
  • Second-degree breach of peace
  • Second-degree threatening
  • Reckless endangerment
  • Third-degree assault
  • Evidence tampering

The juveniles were transported to Juvenile Detention on an order to detain, police said.
