Dog Barkery Expands Business Into Old Manchester Industrial Site
The Leaps & Bones chain has expanded into Manchester with the move of its Dog Barkery operation.

MANCHESTER, CT — The owners of the Leaps & Bones all-natural dog bakery and pet supply business have moved their popular dog bakery operation to a classic location in Manchester — 35 Oakland Street.
In explaining the move, they said the bakery simply out-grew the 300-square-foot retail location in South Windsor and "decided to move the Barkery to a new, more industrial location."
They added, "We found 35 Oakland Street while driving around looking for potential spaces last year. We were really happy this opened up as we had lived a few streets away up until about 2017 and this building always had an interesting past."

It's the old CCC Feed and Farm Supplies location. A lease agreement was worked out and a section of the lower level at the old mill rehabbed. The Barkery was expanded by 600 square feet, and it also sports a retail storefront as well.
A Grand Opening event has been scheduled for Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Mayor Jay Moran presiding over a traditional ribbon-cutting at noon. The grand opening festivities will also include a food truck and a dessert truck.

Here is what the owners are saying abut the new digs:
"We have added a 3D Food decorator to our upgraded bakery as well as new equipment for making our bakery products. We are proud to operate in local CT communities and hire from said communities. This Barkery move has been needed for quite some time but we had to find the right place for our vision of what our company holds to be important. We are emphasizing rehabbing and revitalizing buildings most often overlooked and underutilized in favor of modernist approaches."
Leaps & Bones operates a third location, called Leaps & Bones Too, in Southington. It is also a rehabbed Mill.
"We love Connecticut and the uniqueness of New England and can't think of a better place to operate our three locations," owners said.
