Manchester High School Student Among National Merit Semifinalists (patch.com) — Manchester families can celebrate as Manchester High School senior Gabriel Rader has been named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, putting him in the running for prestigious awards next spring. The recognition places an academic spotlight on the town, with Rader joining more than 16,000 top students nationwide who now compete for scholarships worth about $24 million.
   

2. Manchester Road Race Offering Registered Finishers A Commemorative Medal For 90th Edition Of The Event (patch.com) — Manchester's iconic Thanksgiving Day Road Race is marking its 90th running by giving commemorative medals to every registered runner who finishes the Main Street course. With registration now open, organizers are urging participants to wear their bibs, earn a medal, and help support Rebuilding Together of Manchester and Habitat for Humanity of North Central Connecticut.
   

3. Over The Years, Manchester Has Consistently Commemorated 9/11 Attacks — 25th Anniversary Coming Up (patch.com) — Manchester continues its long tradition of honoring 9/11 with an annual ceremony at the Firefighters Memorial Garden on Tolland Turnpike, centered around a steel column from the World Trade Center. Residents are invited to gather at 8:46 a.m. on the 25th anniversary, while larger national observances in New York, Washington, and Shanksville will be livestreamed for those who wish to watch from home.
   

4. Parents plead not guilty to charges in death of 4-year-old daughter hit by car in Manchester (fox61.com) — A Manchester 4-year-old was fatally struck by a car on East Center Street in June, and her parents have now pleaded not guilty to child risk charges tied to her death. Police say the girl wandered outside alone before dawn, had previously been found unattended, and tested positive for THC, while the Tesla driver accused of speeding and using his phone also faces charges.
