East Catholic Produces Champion at Indoor Track Meet

The CIAC indoor track and field championships were conducted Thursday through Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Athletes from Manchester-based high schools accounted for an individual event victory and 11 other placewinning performances at the CIAC indoor track and field championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

Evan Kennedy of East Catholic won the 600 meters at the Class S championships, pacing the Eagles to a 10th-place team finish. Two other boys and three girls were placewinners for East Catholic, while three boys and three girls wound up in the top six for Manchester High School at the Class LL meet.

  • 4th - Heath Olivieri, 1600 meters
  • 5th - 1600 sprint medley

  • 4th - 1600 sprint medley
  • 5th - Sophie Kisner, 55 meter hurdles
  • 6th - 4 x 200 relay

Manchester

Boys

  • 2nd - Joe Pearl, 1000 meters
  • 3rd - Shawn Akomeah, 600 meters
  • 4th - 1600 sprint medley

Girls

  • 2nd - Kate Hedlund, 3200 meters
  • 4th - 4 x 800 relay
  • 6th - Hannah Sullivan, 1600 meters

The championships were held Thursday through Saturday: Class L on Thursday, Class M on Friday and Classes LL and S on Saturday. Click the class headers for complete results.

The State Open will also take place at the Floyd Little Athletic Center on Saturday, Feb. 17.
