Calling All Employers: April 19 Heroes4Hire Offers Excellent Recruitment Opportunities
WETHERSFIELD, March 30, 2011 – When military forces join or rejoin America’s workforces everyone benefits. That’s why Connecticut employers with job opportunities welcome a chance each year to meet the veterans who have served in the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, National Guard and Reserves by taking part in the seventh annualHeroes4Hire job and career fair.
The April 19 event, to be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rentschler Field Ballroom in East Hartford, traditionally attracts upwards of 1,000 potential employees. This year’s event is proudly sponsored by the Connecticut departments of Labor and Veterans Affairs, the Connecticut Military Department, CBS Radio, Travelers, Connecticut Business and Industry Association, Connecticut Chambers of Commerce and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
“Heroes4Hire provides employers with an excellent opportunity to meet face-to-face with a ready, willing and able pool of job seekers possessing proven skills and talents,” noted Terry Brennan, Director of the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Office for Veterans’ Workforce Development and coordinator of the event.
Combined Insurance of America, Connecticut State Police, Travelers, Walgreens, Yale University, United Illuminating Company and Verizon Wireless are among the many employers already registered with openings in law enforcement, security, engineering, sales, protective services, manufacturing, financial services and more.

Members of the Connecticut Department of Labor’s team of Nationally Certified Professional Résumé Writers will also be on site to help with résumés, while a mobile career center, Workforce One, will also be on site to assist job seekers.
“Veterans make excellent, job-ready candidates,” Brennan adds. “Today’s veterans are current with technology, understand the rigors of tight schedules and limited resources, and also possess the global outlook that an enterprise of any size needs to succeed. Without a doubt, these dedicated men and women will prove to be an asset to any employer’s business.”
