MANCHESTER, CT — A sizable fire broke out at a scrap yard in Manchester over the weekend.

At 11:33 a.m. Saturday, Manchester firefighters responded to 731 Parker St., Ostrinksy's Scrap Yard for an outside incident.

Responding companies found a large fire in a heap of debris in the lot of the business, officials said.

It took four companies two hours to bring the fire under control, with the help of heavy equipment from the business, officials said.

One person was affected by smoke inhalation, but refused transportation to an area hospital, officials said.

No other injuries reported.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to the scene to "evaluate the effects of firefighting runoff," officials said.
