Fire In Manchester Takes Life of Family Pet, 3 Others Saved

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester firefighters responded Tuesday morning to a structure fire at 200 Briarwood Drive, where crews found smoke and flames coming from the eaves of a raised ranch home.

The call came in at 10:16 a.m.

Fire officials said Engine 1 arrived within four minutes and crews initiated an interior attack. Additional companies stretched multiple hose lines, performed vertical ventilation and searched all floors of the home, fire officials said.

The fire was brought under control quickly. Three cats were rescued from the residence, while a fourth was found dead, according to fire offricials.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, but one adult and four children were displaced and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
