MANCHESTER, CT — There is a place in downtown Manchester that takes us back to a time when party-goers had to hide, but did it with pride.

Yes, the 18th Amendment has passed into history and even the 21st tends to be an after thought.

But along the 600 block of Main Street, the speakeasy lives on in the form of The Gypsy, Manchester's latest nighttime venue.

The Pearl Sports Bar of Manchester has opened a lower level V.I.P. lounge called "The Gypsy" that certainly creates a unique ambience in old an world setting, complete with blasted brick walls, large murals, private liquor lockers, premium crafted cocktails and creative small plate menu choices.

Owner-operator Vito Fornarelli says of the venue, "Patrons will now enjoy an exquisite nighttime lower level speakeasy concept that comes with a unique social vibe."

The Gypsy will initially be open on Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

It will also be available for private parties.
