LETTER: Sarah Jones Seeks Election to Board of Directors

Letters are strictly the opinion of the author, and do not necessarily reflect the views of Manchester Patch.

It is an honor and a privilege to be a Democratic candidate for Board of Directors. I entered the race after considering the many ways in which our community has been maligned when, in fact, there is much to appreciate and celebrate.

There is so much available to residents of this community from high-quality town services to a wealth of local organizations that enrich our lives. We have grassroots change agents like Imagine Main Street and Friends of Center Springs Park, both spearheaded by my fellow candidate, Steve Gates. We have community cultural organizations like the Manchester Symphony Orchestra, Little Theater of Manchester and the Arts Commission.

We are lucky to live in a community that has a long tradition of taking care of each other demonstrated by the wonderful work of Rebuilding Together. It is in that spirit that I pledge, if I am elected, that I will be a member of the Board that is intentional in my work on our collective behalf.

I cannot promise that I will get everything right, nor can I promise that we will always agree on the best course of action. But I do promise that I will do my best each and every day on your behalf.

I will come to meetings prepared. I will ask thoughtful questions. I will seek to include relevant stakeholders in decision-making. I will listen and attempt to build consensus. I will value the trust you place in me and will work collaboratively to find the best solutions for our community.
