MANCHESTER, CT — An Altercation on a Manchester street Thursday resulted in a stabbing, police said.

At about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Manchester police received reports that two men were fighting in the area of Cemetery Road and Spencer Street.

When officers arrived, one of them said he had been stabbed in the abdomen and said the other man had left the scene in a gray pickup truck.

Investigators said the two men knew each other and were involved in a verbal dispute in East Hartford prior to coming to Cemetery Road. The injured man was taken to an area hospital for what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested 70-year-old Rufus Franklin, of East Hartford, and charged him with second-degree breach of peace, criminal attempt at first-degree assault, second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree threatening.

Franklin was held on a $500,000 surety bond and was to appear in Manchester Superior Court Friday.
