Man Stabbed Trying To Break Up Fight With Uber Driver: Manchester Police

The man underwent surgery after he was stabbed outside a brewery in Manchester, according to police.

MANCHESTER, CT — A man was severely injured after he was stabbed in the arm trying to break up a fight between two men and an Uber driver outside a brewery in Manchester, according to police.

The incident occurred overnight and police responded around 2 a.m. Sunday to Elicit Brewing, 165 Adams St., where they found the victim, a 31-year-old from Ellington, suffering from a laceration to his left forearm, authorities said.

When the man’s Uber had arrived, the driver had gotten into a fight with Yishay Brooks, 26, of Windsor, and Malik Simmons, 26, of Vernon, according to police, who said the victim had intervened and been stabbed. The driver fled, police said. The victim was taken to Hartford Hospital, underwent surgery overnight and was released Sunday morning, according to police.

Simmons and Brooks were both arrested, according to authorities, who said Brooks was forcibly removed from a vehicle and tased as police attempted to detain him. The pair admitted to being in a fight but denied having knives or committing the stabbing, authorities said, and they were charged with second-degree breach of peace and interfering with police. Their bond was set at $25,000, police said.
