Manchester 2019 Elections: Patterson, Moran Top Vote-Getters

The results are in for the 2019 Manchester municipal election​.

MANCHESTER, CT — The polls are closed and the results are in for the 2019 Manchester municipal election.

Seats on the town's chief governing body and the board of education are among the races being tallied.

Here's what happened in the race for the Board of Directors seats in Districts 1 through 9:

  • Jay Moran - 6,057
  • Pamela Floyd Cranford - 5,201
  • Yolanda Castillo - 5,395
  • Dennis Schain - 5,016

Also on the ballot was a question regarding a hefty capital appropriation for road repairs.:

  • Yes - 5,965
  • No - 2021

Here is the exact wording on the ballot question. It calls for a yes or no answer:

"SHALL THE TOWN OF MANCHESTER APPROPRIATE $16,500,000 TO CAPITAL ACCOUNTS FOR THE 2019-2020 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE COSTS OF RECONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR OF VARIOUS TOWN ROADS, ROADSIDE ELEMENTS, TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND SIDEWALKS, AND REPAIRS TO UNION POND DAM, AND AUTHORIZE THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS OF THE TOWN OR NOTES IN ANTICIPATION OF SUCH BONDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $16,500,000 TO FINANCE SAID APPROPRIATION?"
