Manchester Approves School Projects Ballot Question and Other Results

The town generally favored Democratic candidates over Republican ones in Tuesday's election.

Manchester voters gave a thumbs up to the $86.2 million school capital project.

A total of 16,615 voters went to the polls out of 26,832 registered voters in town, and another 788 cast absentee ballots, 13 of which were rejected.

Manchester Ballot Question

“Shall the Town of Manchester appropriate $84,226,000 to capital accounts for the 2014-2015 fiscal year budget for the purpose of paying the costs of renovations, like new construction and improvements at Cheney-Bennet Grades 5-6 Academy, like new construction and expansion of Verplanck and Waddell Elementary Schools and other improvements at various school facilities, and authorize the issuance of general obligation bonds of the town or notes in anticipation of such bonds in an amount not to exceed $37,600,000, or so much as may be necessary after deducting grants to be received for the projects?
