Manchester Cops Hand Out 200-Plus Cell Phone Citations In April

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester police handed out more than 200 distracted driving tickets in April.

Police participated on a month-long program in conjunction with the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

In all, 459 stops were conducted during the campaign. A total of 388 citations were handed out and 257 of them were for cell phone violations.

Fines are $200 for the first offense, $375 for the second and $625 for the third and all subsequent offenses, police said.

  • Drivers should pull over for text messages or hand the phone to a passenger
  • Drivers should not scroll on social media or search the internet
  • Do not watch movies or videos while driving
