Manchester Cops Serve 2nd Warrant In April Shooting Case

A Manchester gun case is still being investigated after a second arrest this week.

MANCHESTER, CT — A second arrest has been made in connection with an April shooting in Manchester's Seaman Circle neighborhood.

On Monday, Manchester Police Department Detectives, assisted by members of the East Central Narcotics Task Force, had determined the location of the second suspect involved in the April 30 shooting. He has been identified as 29-year-old Devon Bonds of East Hartford and was picked up in a vehicle in Middletown, according to a police report. Throughout the week investigators worked to develop information on his exact location, police said.

Bonds has been charged on a warrant with:

  • First-degree assault
  • First-degree reckless endangerment
  • Criminal possession of a firearm

Bonds' bond was set at $750,000 and he was held overnight with a Tuesday court date.

Manchester officers responded to Seaman Circle on the morning of April 30 for a report of shots fired, according to police. Investigators found evidence confirming a shooting, according to police, who said a witness identified two vehicles that had fled the scene.

Shortly after the incident, a person with gunshot wounds to the lower extremities arrived at Hartford Hospital, according to police, who added the injured party was thought to have been involved in the altercation.

The shooting victim has already been charged.

On Sunday morning, Manchester Police Department detectives, assisted by the Capitol Region Emergency Services Team, executed a search warrant at 61 Seaman Circle in relation to the shooting. An arrest warrant had been secured for "someone injured in the shooting," identified as 28-year-old Lorenzo Thornton of Hartford, according to an arrest report.

Officers located Thornton inside the dwelling and he was placed under arrest, police said.
For the shooting investigation, Thornton was charged with:

  • Criminal attempt to commit assault in the first degree
  • First-degree reckless endangerment
  • Criminal possession of a firearm

Following the execution of the search warrant, Thornton was additionally charged with:

  • Theft of a Firearm
  • Fifth-degree larceny
  • Criminal possession of a firearm
  • Risk of injury to a minor

Police said the additional charges stem from officers locating an unsecured stolen firearm within the residence connected to Thornton. Thornton's case was assigned A $1 million bond.
