MANCHESTER, CT — A racially charged incident on a Manchester street left a man with a bigotry charge, police said.

On Wednesday, Manchester police patrol units responded to a disturbance near the intersection of Pine and Walnut streets.

The complainant told officers he was sitting in his vehicle — that was pulled over on the side of the road — when a man later identified as Manchester resident Jay Pelletier — started yelling at him and told him to 'get out of here,' according to an incident report.

The man also told police that Pelletier directed "offensive racial slurs" toward him and reached into his vehicle as he was leaving the area, according to an incident report.

Police said they located Pelletier a short time later. He was arrested and charged with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree intimidation based on bigotry and bias.
