Manchester Man Charged With 20 Crimes In Child Sex Abuse Investigation
More charges are likely in Manchester sexual abuse case, police said.

MANCHESTER, CT — A 51-year-old Manchester man is facing 20 criminal charges related to what police are terming the "commercial sexual abuse of a minor."
In May, the Manchester Police Department Child Investigations Unit received information about possible repeated incidents of child sexual abuse spanning a period of several months, according to an arrest report.
A suspect was subsequently identified as Galen J. Cyr, also known as Charlie J. Cyr and the offenses were determined to have occurred at his residence in Manchester, according to an arrest report.

On Wednesday, a search warrant was obtained and served at Cyr's residence, police said.
With the assistance of the Connecticut Center for Digital Investigations, Cyr was taken into custody without incident and was charged with:

- One count of the commercial sexual abuse of a minor
- Four counts of fourth-degree sexual assault
- Eleven counts of impairing the morals of a child
- Four counts of illegal sexual contact of a child
Galen is currently being held on a $200,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior court on Aug. 15, police said.
Police said the investigation into Cyr's actions is ongoing and additional charges are expected. There is a potential Cyr victimized additional children, police said.
