Manchester Obituary: Elaine Kizis, 84

Condolences to her family and friends.

Elaine (Adamy) Kizis, 84, of South Windsor, beloved wife of over 65 years to Joseph A. Kizis, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Manchester, the daughter of the late Michael and Katherina (Demko) Adamy, she grew up and lived in Manchester before moving to South Windsor 65 years ago. Elaine was a graduate of Manchester High School, Class of 1950.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was always on the sidelines of her grandchildren and great grandchildren's sports games. Elaine was an excellent cook and she liked sharing meals with her family. She enjoyed bowling in Vernon with the senior women's group, and duck pin bowling at Holiday Lanes in Manchester.

Elaine loved feeding the birds and outside animals and gardening. She looked forward to going to the casino with Joe. She was an avid UConn women's basketball fan.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved children, Joseph Kizis Jr. and his wife Paula of Reno, NV, Chris Soucy and her husband Steven of Willington, and Scott Kizis and his wife Karen of South Windsor; five grandchildren, Alex Kizis, Steven Soucy Jr. and his wife Karis, Jeremy Soucy, Scott Kizis Jr. and his wife Brandy, Rebecca Kizis and her companion Justin Richards; six great grandchildren, Alison and Cal Soucy, Aubrina and Carter Kizis, and Brayden and Sophie Richards; a sister, Lillian Rinaldi and her husband Ralph of Prospect, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother William Adamy.

Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be in East Cemetery, Manchester.

Elaine's family would like to thank Interim HealthCare, the Visiting Nurse and Health Services of Connecticut Hospice, Dr. Brodie and ARPN Wendy for the wonderful care that they provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association CT Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
