Manchester Obituary: Ethelyn Dante Sands, 96

Ethelyn C. (Carter) Dante Sands, 96, of Manchester died on Sunday, August 20, 2017. Ethelyn was one of ten children born to Walter and Ethel (Schieldge) Carter in Wethersfield.

Ethelyn is survived by her son James B. Dante of East Hampton; her daughter Dorothy Malerba and loving son-in-law Michael Malerba of Manchester; a grandson Steven Dante; one sister Viola Couch, of New Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Ethelyn was predeceased by her first husband, the father of her children, Benjamin A. Dante, her second husband Edward Podgurski, and her third husband Eugene Sands.

The family would like to thank Manchester Manor especially Peaches, for their many years of caring; Manchester Hospital 3 North Nurse Diane, and the staff of 2 East; and Patty of VNHS hospice care.

A Funeral Service will be held for Ethelyn on Thursday August 24th at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, at 11:00 a.m. to be followed by a private burial at a later date. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
