
Michael James Martin, 61, of Vernon, beloved husband for 35 years of Mary Jo (Lepak) Martin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at his home.
Born in Tucson, AZ on February 9, 1955, son of George Israel Martin of Myrtle Beach, SC and the late Janice Ann (Foote) Martin, he traveled extensively while growing up following his father's Air Force career and settled with his family in Vernon when he was 16 years old.
Michael worked as a tool maker for many years and most recently had worked for 10 years at ABA-PGT, Inc. in Manchester. Michael had spent most of his life in Vernon and attended Rockville High School. He was a faithful brother and served as an elder for many years at the West Hartford Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Besides his loving wife, Mary Jo and his father George, he leaves a son, Sean David Martin and his wife Erin of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Paul Brian Martin and his significant other, Liz Fukushima of Vermont; two grandchildren, Cooper and Campbell Martin of Atlanta, GA; and many special nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends on Sunday, October 9, 5-6 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m., at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor. Burial will be private.
