Manchester Police Officer Directing Traffic Struck By Vehicle

Police have found the vehicle and operator involved.

MANCHESTER, CT — Local police said this afternoon they have located the vehicle and operator believed to be responsible for striking a police officer director traffic and then fleeing.

According to the Manchester Police Department's Facebook page, an officer directing traffic in the area of Main Street and Charter Oak Street early Friday afternoon was struck by a vehicle, which then fled the scene.

The officer sustained minor injuries, police said, and was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

The accident and subsequent investigation resulted in the right-turn lane from South Main Street onto Charter Oak Street being closed.

Police said more information is forthcoming regarding the hit-and-run incident.
