Manchester Police Captain 'Retiring' To Take CCSU Chief's Position

Sean Grant spent more than a quarter-century serving Manchester.

MANCHESTER, CT — After nearly 27 years with the Manchester Police Department, Capt. Sean Grant signed off for the last time Tuesday after "having served the Town of Manchester with honor, integrity and compassion throughout his career," police officials said.

Grant began his career at the department in 1996 after graduating from the University of Connecticut. He was also a member of the Army National Guard.

He was promoted to sergeant in 2017 and to lieutenant two years later. In 2018, he became captain of the department.

Grant had many duties at the MPD, including narcotics officer, a detective and field training officer.

Grant was a two-time recipient of the MPD Medal of Honor and also received a meritorious service award.

"He served in many areas of our agency, and left his positive impact on each of them," police officials said.

Following his promotion to Captain in 2018, he attended and graduated the FBI National Academy Class No. 236 in 2019.

Grant will continue his career in law enforcement as the chief of police for the Central Connecticut State University Police Department.
