MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester police said Thursday night that they have intercepted another social media message plugging another "Teen Night Takeover" at the Shoppes at Buckland Hills mall.

The takeover is being advertised for Saturday, police said.

Police took a pro-active approach to a similar solicitation last weekend and it apparently caused the event to fizzle out.

"Thank you to everyone who shared the information last weekend and promptly reported this to the police," the MPD said in a social media post. "These types of takeovers have become a trend not only locally but nationwide. We continually work with mall management, security, digital investigations, and surrounding agencies to deter unsanctioned events such as this. These viral gatherings have proven unpredictable, raising significant public safety concerns for everyone."

With that said, the MPD plans to deploy "additional personnel and resources in and around the mall to deter large gatherings and prevent criminal or disruptive activity."
