Manchester Road Race Offering Unique Goodie Bag For 2019

MANCHESTER, CT — For the first time in the event's history, the 2019 Manchester Road Race will feature a goodie bag for every registered participant. But to eliminate the "unnecessary waste and inconvenience from a plastic bag full of paper and samples as is often the case at other running events," the Race organizers are adding an Online Goodie Bag so runners and walkers will be able to take advantage of sponsors' and advertisers' special offers, samples, drawings, coupons, freebies, etc. at their own convenience, right over their computers, tablets, or smart phones.

Here's how it will work: Manchester Road Race registrants will receive an email a few days before the Race with a link and access code to the Goodie Bag website. Then, for 60 days, they'll be able to access the MRR Goodie Bag site and take advantage of whatever offers they wish, either by printing out a coupon, jotting down a code, or linking directly to the site of the company making the special offer. The Manchester Road Race will also be extending this special MRR Goodie Bag access to attendees at the MRR Sports & Fitness Expo and donors at the MRR Blood Bank who sign up.

There is no cost or obligation. Race registrants' email addresses will not be given to anyone and will not be used for any other purpose unless participants choose to provide it to one of the companies making a Goodie Bag offer.

The Manchester Road Race has chosen to partner with the industry leading event bag software platform of ACTIVE Network to provide this innovative benefit to Race participants. According to MRR President Tris Carta, the Online Goodie Bag will provide an additional benefit for Race registrants while still maintaining the Road Race's goal of an environmentally conscious, landfill-free event. “We feel this is in keeping with the spirit of recent Connecticut legislation banning plastic bags,” he explains. “But it also provides a more effective way for our sponsors and advertisers to reach our participants in a smart and unobtrusive way, and without compromising the personal information or even the email addresses of our runners, walkers, expo visitors and blood donors.”

The 83rd running of the Manchester Road Race will take place in Downtown Manchester on Thanksgiving morning (November 28th) at 10 am. The event is expected to attract a large field that will include some of the world’s best male and female distance competitors and as many as 15,000 area residents.
