Manchester Woman Speaks At State Action Day
Speaking out for those living with multiple sclerosis.
Manchester resident Amy Schack speaks at the start of MS Action Day on March 3 at the Connecticut State Capitol. Schack shared information about the new IconquerMS.org, where people living with multiple sclerosis can help conquer this disease by safely and securely contributing their health information and submitting ideas for research on topics important to them.
Schack, who was diagnosed with MS in May of 2009, also met with her local representatives to discuss the continuation of state funded programs that allow for people with degenerative neurological diseases to receive home-based services.
Action Day is part of MS Awareness Week, which takes place every March. More than 6,300 Connecticut residents are living with MS, a potentially debilitating disease. In the most successful MS Action Day yet, more than 100 National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter staff and constituents gathered at the state capitol to meet with local legislators and discuss current priority issues.
