Manchester's Stern Has Another Stellar Week for Eastern

She is having a productive volleball season for the Warriors.

WILLIMANTIC, CT β€” In 10 sets last week, freshman outside hitter Abby Stern of Manchester led the Eastern Connecticut State University volleyball squad in kills per set (4.30), attack percentage (.246) and reception attempts (88) en route to LEC Rookie-of-the-Week recognition for the third time this year.

Stern also had a .971 serve percentage on 34 serves, a .909 reception percentage and also averaged 2.70 digs per set and totaled four blocks.

a .250 attack percentage, handled 11 receptions without an error and contributed 10 digs.

In four sets against Western New England Saturday, Stern had 22 kills – her second-highest total
of the season. She served 16 balls with two aces and no errors, received a season-high 51 serves
and added 11 digs.

On the season, Stern has appeared in all 51 sets and leads the team in kills (176) and kills per

set (3.45), attacks (496), reception attempts (205) and reception percentage (.989) and is
second in digs (16) and third in digs per set (3.14).

Eastern (8-5, 1-1 LEC) hosts Rhode Island College (9-7, 0-2 LEC) Tuesday at 7 p.m. and remains
home for non-conference competition Saturday against Nichols College at noon and Penn
State Abington at 4 p.m. The Warriors have defeated the Anchorwomen in the last five
meetings, including last year’s five-set decision.
