Manchester High School Flag Football Star Nominated For Heart Of A Giant Award (patch.com) — Manchester residents can rally behind Manchester High School's Iyanna Sheets, a two-time state champion who helped launch the school's girls flag football program and lead it to back-to-back titles. She's now up for the 2026 Heart of a Giant Award, with public voting open through Oct. 25 and potential grant money on the line for the school's football program.
   

2. Manchester Project Aims To Get Rugs To Those Who Need Them (patch.com) — A Manchester storage space full of about 300 unused area rugs is being turned into an opportunity to help local households that need them. Organizer Faysal Koten is working with Connecticut organizations and a GoFundMe campaign to cover storage, transport, and distribution so the rugs can find new homes in the community.
   

3. Manchester police search for suspect after man shot on Wetherell Street (fox61.com) — Manchester police are investigating a Tuesday night shooting on Wetherell Street where a 39-year-old local man was shot in the leg but is expected to recover. The suspected shooter fled before officers arrived and remains at large. Anyone who saw or heard anything is urged to call Manchester police as the investigation continues.
   

4. Southington pulls away in second half to beat Manchester (wfsb.com) — Manchester High's Red Hawks fell 29-6 to undefeated Southington after keeping the first half close, trailing just 9-0 at the break. A key fourth-down stop early in the third quarter swung momentum, leading to another Southington touchdown. The loss is a setback for Manchester, while Southington stays perfect on the season.
   

5. TikTok love note, DNA helped link Enfield man to $10K Motel 6 robbery, warrant says (nhregister.com) — Police investigating a $10,000 armed robbery at a Wethersfield Motel 6 say a stolen Hyundai Elantra used in the crime was later captured on camera driving through Manchester near Cemetery Road and Spencer Street. Investigators linked an Enfield man to the case using TikTok activity, surveillance footage, DNA, and the car's movements, while a second suspect remains at large.
