MANCHESTER CT — The residential portion of the Manchester Transfer Station was briefly closed Thursday morning because of minor brush fires.
The fire was discovered in the residential brush drop-off area at about 9 p.m. Wednesday, Public Works Director Tim Bockus said.
Bockus said the fires were small, but pesky and the transfer station was closed until noon Thursday because of lingering smoke. Firefighters went to the scene to douse the area because the fires kept flaring up, Bockus said.
