Special Weather Statement for Hartford County As Storms Move In
Strong to severe storms are moving through the state Friday afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, Hartford, Tolland, and Litchfield counties until 11 p.m. tonight. It appears the eastern parts of the state, New London and Windham counties will not severe storms tonight, though thunderstorms are possible for everyone.
The major concerns are heavy rain, lightning and possibly hail, the weather service states.

At 422 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Northwest Harwinton, or near Torrington, moving northeast at 20 mph.

Pea size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will accompany this storm.
Locations impacted include...
West Hartford, Windsor, South Windsor, Farmington, Simsbury, Bloomfield, Avon, Suffield, Windsor Locks, Granby, East Windsor, Canton, Southwick, Burlington, East Granby, Hartland and Granville.
As of 4:30 p.m. strong storms were moving into Hartford County.
