The Manchester incident took place on Feb. 4, 2023. According to an incident report, at 8:12 a.m. that day, a Manchester resident pulled into Steve's Bagels at 150 Center St. to pick up an order.

Moments after parking and entering the business, an Audi that was stolen out of Wallingford the day before, backed in next to the resident's Porsche. One of the men in the stolen Audi then entered the Porsche through the driver's door, police said.

The owner of the Porsche came out of the bagel shop and approached the vehicle, but the car thief backed up, then accelerated forward and hit the owner with the front bumper, according to an incident report. The resident suffered several fractured vertebrae as a result, according to an incident report.

Both the Audi and Porsche then fled the area after the incident and were located by officers in the days following, police said.

One suspect was subsequently identified through a nearly year-long joint investigation by officers from the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force, the Glastonbury Police Department, and the Hartford Police Department, as Drummond, according to an incident report.

Drummond surrendered on a warrant at the Manchester Police Department and was charged with the theft of a motor vehicle and a related conspiracy, along with criminal liability for first-degree assault, police said.
