Texting and Driving: A Deadly Combination
Some sobering stats on the dangers of texting and driving.

I'm sort of a hypocrite by writing this blog. Because I'll admit - I've been VERY guilty in the past of texting and driving.
But today I saw some sobering statistics...and these were more than two years old.
- In 2011, 23% of crashes involved cell phones - that means 1.3 MILLION accidents.
- Texting increases your likelihood of crashing 23 times over.
- 77% of young adults say they are very or somewhat confident in their abilities to safety text and drive...55% say it's downright "easy".
The MINIMUM amount of time texting takes your eyes away from the road is five seconds. If you're driving at 55 miles per hour, that means that you traveled an ENTIRE FOOTBALL FIELD without looking at the road. Now bump up your speed to 70 and respond to an entire text. Terrifying, isn't it?
