Truck Spills 'Significant Amount' Of Fuel Onto Highway In Manchester

MANCHESTER, CT — A mishap on Interstate 84 Tuesday afternoon left diesel fuel spilling onto the highway, Manchester fire officials said.

A tractor-trailer was traveling Companies west when it struck road debris, fire officials said. The debris punctured a 150 gallon "saddle tank," on the truck, which resulted in "a significant spill" onto the pavement that began threatening nearby storm drains, fire officials said.

A crew from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was called to the scene to mitigate the cleanup and assess any environmental impacts, fire officials said
