WWII Mortar Round Removed from Manchester Neighborhood

The mortar round, found by a woman cleaning out a garage, was apparently inert. Given to her late husband, she'd forgotten about it.

Although it was oozing green liquid, a World War II mortar round removed from a Nye Street garage Wednesday afternoon by a state police bomb expert was apparently inert, according to a Hartford Courant report.

The woman told authorities that the weapon had been given to her late husband about 10 years ago, and she forgot about it until she came upon the device as she was cleaning out a detached garage.
