2024 Primary Elections: What Mansfield Voters Need To Know

Two primaries are taking place in Mansfield.

MANSFIELD, CT β€” The 2024 election event is set for November and state and federal offices will be up for grabs, but first there is primary day. Polls will be open in Mansfield on Aug. 13 in from 6 a.m, to 8 p.m.

In Mansfield, residents who are registered Republicans may vote for one of two candidates to challenge incumbent Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy for a seat in the U.S. Senate. Gerry Smith, the first selectman of Beacon Falls, is running against Manchester native, businessman and Navy veteran Matthew Corey.

For the Republican 29th District state Senate race, Chris Reddy is squaring off against Susannne Witkowski. The district encompasses the towns of Brooklyn, Canterbury, Killingly, Mansfield, Scotland, Putnam, Thompson and Windham.

Democratic incumbent Mae Flexer has occupied the seat since 2015.

District 2 polling location has moved from Eagleville First House to Mansfield Middle School. This is a permanent change due to accessibility issues.

For the Republican Primary for U.S. and State Senators on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. All regular polling places will be open from 6am-8pm. Early voting will take place at the Town Hall August 5,7,9,10,11 from 10am-6pm and August 6 & 8 from 8am-8pm.

Aug. 2 is the earliest deadline, and affects unaffiliated voters seeking to vote during the early voting period before the primary β€” Aug. 5 to Aug. 11 β€” to file party enrollment application.

Aug. 12 is the deadline for issuing absentee ballots, outside of special exceptions for those overseas or ill.
