23rd Connecticut Children's Book Fair

November 8th and 9th (Saturday/Sunday), 2014 from 10am-5pm; Rome Ballroom at University of Connecticut Storrs Campus

Fun for the Whole Family! The Connecticut Children’s Book Fair will be held November 8 and 9, from 10 am to 5 pm in Rome Ballroom on the UConn campus in Storrs.

The Connecticut Children’s Book Fair celebrates children (of all ages) and the books they read. It hosts many popular and well-known authors and illustrators who give presentations about their work and autograph copies of their books. It is an opportunity to meet the creator of a favorite work or discover someone new.

This year’s participants include Nora Raleigh Baskin, Patrik Henry Bass, Jerry Craft, Anika Denise, Christopher Denise, Anna Dewdney, Jane Dyer, Chris Grabenstein, Jeff Kinney, Natalie Lloyd, Jean Marzollo, Barbara McClintock, Wendell Minor, Florence Minor, Caragh O’Brien, Dan Poblocki, Judy Schachner, Pat Schories, Kevin Sherry, Len Vlahos, Lauren Tarshis and Nancy Elizabeth Wallace.

Jeff Kinney is the creator of the Wimpy Kid series. Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul will be published just prior to the fair. Schachner is the author and illustrator of the popular Skippy Jon Jones books.

McClintock has a wonderful new book, My Grandfather’s Coat with illustrations inspired by the early Jewish community of eastern Connecticut. Chris Grabenstein writes the Lemoncello mysteries.

In addition to authors and illustrators, there will be crafts, music, and storybook characters. Characters include Biscuit, Llama, Llama, Madeline, Poky Puppy and Clifford the Big Red Dog.

The Connecticut Children’s Book Fair, one of the few free fairs of this kind in the US, is a project of the UConn Libraries and the UConn Co-op Bookstore at Storrs Center to benefit the Northeast Children’s Literature Collection.
