MANSFIELD, CT — The Storrs Winter Farmers Market is moving to the University of Connecticut's Ratcliffe Hicks Arena for much of its upcoming season, giving the market more space to accommodate vendors and shoppers.
Market organizers announced the new location as part of an expansion effort aimed at serving longtime customers, Mansfield residents and UConn students.
The move follows a monthlong search for a larger winter venue. Organizers thanked UConn and the university's College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources for helping make the relocation possible.
The market also plans to strengthen its partnerships with university groups, including the Connecticut Horticulture Club and UConn Healthy Family Connecticut, while welcoming additional students, faculty, departments, clubs and organizations.
Organizers also thanked the Mansfield Public Library for its continued support. The library's Buchanan Auditorium will host four market dates during the season.
All markets will run Saturdays from 3 to 5 p.m. The final outdoor market at the Mansfield Town Hall Green is scheduled for Nov. 7.
The winter market schedule includes the following dates:
Ratcliffe Hicks Arena at UConn:
Mansfield Public Library, Buchanan Auditorium:
Organizers are encouraging community members to share suggestions for vendors they would like to see at the market as it begins its next chapter.
