The Connecticut State Museum of Natural History will hold an archaeology field workshop on Saturday, October 12, 9 am to 12 noon. The activity “Archaeology Field Workshop – Learning The Basics," will be led by Mandy Ranslow, Friends of the Office of State Archaeology (FOSA) board member and KAST Field School Archaeologist.
What happens at an archaeological dig? Learn about the science, tools, and cultural aspects of archaeology, as well as proper archaeological field techniques and data management from Mandy Ranslow, Friends of the Office of State Archaeology board member and Registered Professional Archaeologist. Participants will be part of a real archaeological field crew, doing hands-on fieldwork at a genuine, ongoing archaeological dig at UConn. Findings at the site add important information to our understanding of Connecticut’s rich historic past. If you like to solve historical mysteries and if you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, then this is the activity for you!
The program fee is $20, $15 for Museum members, which includes a materials fee. Advance registration is required. This program is for adults and children ages 10 and above. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For further information visit http://www.cac.uconn.edu/mnhcurrentcalendar.html
