Boston College Hires UConn Assistant Luke Murray As New Men's Basketball Head Coach
The UConn assistant becomes the 14th head coach in program history, Boston College announced.

CHESTNUT HILL, MA — Boston College has hired Luke Murray, an assistant coach with the University of Connecticut men's basketball program, as its new head Men's Basketball Coach.
The school announced the appointment Thursday. Murray becomes the 14th head coach in program history, according to Boston College. Athletic director Blake James said Murray arrives after helping build "a championship-level program" at UConn.
"Today marks a turning point in Boston College men's basketball," James said. "In Luke Murray, we have found a leader who does not just understand the modern landscape of college basketball - he has helped define it. His role in building a national championship caliber program, his sophisticated offensive vision, and his relentless pursuit of excellence make him the perfect fit to lead our student-athletes. We are thrilled to welcome Luke, his wife, Kara, and their family to the BC community."

Boston College said Murray brings more than a decade of coaching experience at the highest levels of college basketball. The school said he played a key staff role in two national championships and is known for offense, player development and recruiting.
According to Boston College, Murray's tenure at UConn included five straight NCAA Tournament appearances and two national championships. The school said he was valued for helping design a top offense and develop All-Conference and NBA-caliber players.

Before joining UConn, Murray held assistant coaching jobs at Louisville, Xavier, Rhode Island, Towson and Wagner. His coaching career also included time as a graduate assistant at Arizona, an assistant coach at Post and director of operations at Quinnipiac. Murray is the son of actor and comedian Bill Murray.

Murray graduated from Fairfield University in 2007 with a degree in sociology.
