Canterbury Man Dies, Mansfield Man Suffers Minor Injuries in Thursday Crash
The crash was in Hampton.

HAMPTON, CT - A Canterbury man died after a Thursday afternoon car crash in Hampton that also involved a Mansfield man, state police said.
At 3:30 p.m., state police were alerted to a two-car accident that took place at the intersection of routes 6 and 97 in Hampton.
One car, a 2012 Ford focus, had been traveling in the southbound lane on Route 97, being operated by Charles Thurlow, 74, of 169 Bingham Road, Canterbury, state police said. Matilda Thurlow, 74, of the same address, was a passenger, state police said.

The car was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection, state police said.
The second car, a 2015 Volkswagen Passat, was in the westbound lane of Route 6 and was approaching the intersection, state police said. It was being operated by Michael Kozyra, 40, of 488 Mansfield Ave., Mansfield, state police said.

The Focus entered the intersection and into the path of the Passat and the Passat crashed into its driver's side door, state police said.
All those involved were taken to Windham Hospital by Ambulance and Kozyra and Matilda Turlow were treated for minor injuries, state police said.
Charles Thurlow's health "began to rapidly fail" while at Windham Hospital and he was airlifted to Hartford Hospital for "advanced trauma care," state police said.
He died at Hartford Hospital, state police said.
