Charges Filed In Springtime Hit-And-Run Crash In Mansfield

MANSFIELD, CT — An arrest has been made in a springtime hit-and-run crash in Mansfield, state police said.

According to a warrant, at 6:59 in the morning of March 19, state police responded to a two-vehicle crash along the 700 block of Route 44, known locally as Middle Turnpike. State police were told that a white box truck with blue lettering had fled the scene, heading west, according to a warrant.

The driver of the second vehicle said the box truck had swerved into him from the opposite side of the road, according to a warrant. He pulled over and the saw the truck flee, according to a warrant.

A call to the company that operated the box truck was met with confirmation that there was a crash, according to a warrant.

The accident was then traced to the driver, a 55-year-old Windsor man, according to a warrant. He has been charged with evading responsibility and failure to drive in the proper lane.
