Cold, Wet Winter Predicted for the Northeast
According to the Farmer's Almanac, this year's winter will be cold and wet.

It may be summer but the Farmerβs Almanac is already thinking about winter.
And according to the publication, which puts out an annual long-term forecast, this yearβs winter will be cold and wet.

βAccording to the 2015 edition of the Farmersβ Almanac, the winter of 2014β15 will see below-normal temperatures for about three-quarters of the nation,β the publication said in a summary on its website. βOver the eastern third of the country, we are expecting an active storm track with a number of storms delivering copious amounts of snow and rain.β
The Farmerβs Almanac said it is βred flaggingβ the first 10 days of January and the first week of February along the Atlantic seaboard for βactive wintry weatherβ featuring βbouts of heavy precipitation and strong winds.β

Watch out again in mid-March, when more widespread wintry conditions are expected along the East Coast.
The publication uses sunspots, planetary positions and lunar cycles to come up with a long-range forecast.
